The Rehabilitation Team
The rehabilitation team at McClure Rehabilitation Center provides
quality therapeutic interventions to promote the recovery process
after illness, injury or trauma. Individualized treatment and care
plans are developed incorporating the goals of the patient, family
and caregivers. To assist patients in increasing independence and
returning to their prior level of independent functioning.
Physical Therapy
The primary goal in physical therapy is to assist patients in achieving
the highest functional level of independence in the areas of motor
function, muscle strength, mobility and ambulation. Treatment programs
are developed to restore function, prevent disability and alleviate
pain. Our treatment interventions include training in mobility,
gait, endurance, balance, coordination and strength. In addition,
neuromuscular re-education, joint mobilization, safety instruction,
therapeutic and range of motion exercises are utilized and tailored
to each individual’s needs.
Occupational Therapy
Assisting patients in achieving their maximum level of independence
in daily living skills, such as self care, homemaking and community
living, is the primary goal of occupational therapy. Treatment
interventions include training or retraining patients in activities
of daily living, cognitive/perceptual skills, energy conservation
techniques, use of adaptive equipment, as well as home and safety
management. The fabrication of splints, use of orthotic devices
and positioning are also a part of our specialized occupational
therapy services.
Speech & Language Therapy
Primary goals of speech and language therapy include helping patients
regain their communication skills, developing compensatory techniques
for non-verbal communicators, as well as teaching techniques to
promote safe swallowing. Additional interventions include aural
rehabilitation for the hearing impaired and cognitive retraining
for patients with memory, thinking and processing problems as well
as patients with early stage dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.
